BAH is Drava Shoshaka, Pittakara and Grahi. It dries up the Kleda, improves Dhatwagni and interrupts Samprapti of Prameha. In BAH capsule Banaba is the major ingredient. Banaba is known as Tinish in Sanskrit. Tinish is Kashaya Rasa, Ushna Virya, Grahi. It is recommended in Shleshma, Meda, Kushtha, Prameha, Pandu and Vrana. Amalaki is dominantly Kashaya -Amla Rasa, Shita Virya, Madhura Vipaka. It has Sara, Laghu and Mridu attributes. Amalaki is Tridoshaghna with more effect on Kapha and Pitta. It is recommended in Jwara, Raktapitta, Prameha, Daha and Vrana. Amalaki is potent Rasayana. Haridra is Tikta- Katu Rasa, Katu Vipaka, Ushna Virya, Haridra is Kapha- Pitta Hara and Ruksha attribute. Thus it is recommended is Prameha, Visha , Kushtha, Krimi, Pinasa.
Banaba in BAH enhances cellular uptake of glucose, decreases gluconeogenesis and the regulates lipid metabolism. It acts like synthetic insulin, increases glucose uptake in cells and help the body use insulin more efficiently. Haridra is anti-inflammatory, it activates Beta cells, prevents micro vascular and macro vascular complications, reduces polyphasia ,polydipsia, polyuria, and general inactivity. Amalaki increases sensitivity of peripheral tissue to insulin and also prevents tissue from oxidative damage.
