This is modified Chyavanprash, it is sugar-free thus suitable for diabetes patients. Yet is sweet and suitable for all ages. It is made up of 44 precious Ayurvedic herbs. Regular Chyavanprash contains 34mg Vitamin C per100 g.; Fresh Amla contains 450 mg vitamin C per 100 g, whereas the Madhavprash contains 3000 mg Vitamin C per 100 g due to its modified and sugar-free manufacturing process. Vitamin C contributes to immune defence by supporting various cellular functions of both the innate and adaptive immune system.
Chyavanprash was firstly advised by the twin Ashwini Kumar- the two physicians of gods, to sage Chyavana, thus the name Chyavanprash. Chyavana was the son of sage Bhrigu, On a long-standing Tapasya when Chyavana turned too feeble and aged, administering the Chyavanprasha helped him to regain his power and youth.
As a detailed formulation, Chyavanprash is first mentioned in Charaka Samhita, the great compilation of principles of medicines around the second century BC. Afterword a few revisions were made by Sharangdhara Samhita 12th century AD.
As per Charaka Samhita Chyavanprasha is a respiratory system specific immunomodulatory. It strengthens the lungs and heart improves brain function and improves overall health status of the body. Madhavprash is based on modifications made by Sharangdhara Samhita. Further it is sugar-free and modified as per the need of heart and lung patients.
Amla has been used for immunity since ancient times in India. Various researches have shown that Amla is a very good immunomodulator, an antioxidant, can be used to improve immunity. It is also useful to fight against immunosuppressive agents and conditions. It also protects heart, liver, lungs and eyes.
Amla is reported to contain phenolic constituents like gallic acid and its derivatives, mucic acid and its derivatives, corillagin, chebulagic acid, putrajivain A.
